Rubella
Disease and transmission –Rubella, also known as German measles, is a viral illness and caught via infected droplets in the air from coughs and sneezes.
Prevention - Good respiratory and hand hygiene (see good respiratory and hand hygiene leaflets) may help prevent contracting the disease. There is a two-dose vaccine given over a minimum of a month that gives lifelong immunity (also mixed with mumps and measles, known as the MMR).
Symptoms – Red or pink spotty rash but also cough, sneezing, sore throat, high temperature, headache, red eyes and painful joints. It can cause complications in pregnancy if caught at this time.
